Otaku Jatra

Client Otaku Jatra

Nepal has a quietly passionate anime and manga community. For years they gathered informally — online groups, small meetups, shared interests with no central event to call their own. Otaku Jatra set out to change that by creating Nepal’s dedicated otaku festival, bringing the community together under one roof.

They needed a digital home to match the ambition.

The Problem

Organising a community event of this scale involves more moving parts than most people realise. Ticketing, event listings, sponsor management, competition entries, cosplay registrations — all of this was being handled manually through messages, spreadsheets, and social media DMs. It was chaotic, error-prone, and didn’t reflect the professionalism the event was trying to project.

What I Built

I designed and developed a full event website for Otaku Jatra that brought all of these pieces together in one place. Event listings kept the community informed on what was happening and when. An integrated ticketing system let attendees purchase and register online, removing the need for manual coordination.

Custom entry forms were built for event competitions — handling registrations for cosplay, art, gaming, and other categories — with sponsor pages giving partners proper visibility and recognition on the platform.

The community section gave otakus a place to connect beyond the event itself, building engagement that kept the site alive year-round rather than just around event dates.

The Result

A centralised platform that took the organisational chaos out of running Nepal’s otaku festival and replaced it with a system that worked. Attendees could discover, register, and participate entirely online — and sponsors had a professional presence that made partnerships worthwhile.

This project is no longer live as the client has since ceased operations.
