Nepal’s pet ownership culture has been quietly growing. More families in Kathmandu are bringing dogs into their homes — and with that comes a need for quality food, accessories, and healthy breeds from trusted sources. Everest Kennel had been serving that community for years, but entirely offline.
It was time to bring the kennel online.
The Problem
The client ran a well-established pet shop in Kathmandu selling everything from dog food and supplements to accessories, grooming products, and puppy breeds ranging from German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers to Labradors and Rottweilers. Business was good in person, but there was no way for customers to browse products, check availability, or place orders without walking in.
For a city where people are increasingly comfortable shopping online, that was a missed opportunity.
What I Built
I built a full e-commerce store using WordPress and WooCommerce, structured around the breadth of what Everest Kennel actually sells. The shop is organised into clean categories — food and supplements, accessories, and puppy breeds — with subcategories that make it easy to find exactly what you’re looking for, whether that’s a harness, a water bottle, or a specific breed of puppy.
Customer accounts were set up so buyers can register, track their orders, and manage a wishlist. A blog was integrated for pet care tips and breed information, giving the site content that keeps customers coming back even when they’re not buying.
The site also handles the complexity of selling live animals online sensitively — breed listings are informational first, with enquiry flows for puppies rather than a straight add-to-cart.
The Result
A proper digital storefront for one of Kathmandu’s established pet shops — one that works for the customer browsing from their phone at 10pm just as well as the one walking in on a Saturday morning.
